Let's discuss your favourite Romance languages. What is(are) your favourite? Why?
I begin. Though I like all Romance languages, I think my favourite is French. Why? Hmmm... it's quite a difficult question but I'll try. I'm an Anglophile, and you know that a great deal of English vocabulary is from French. So if you like English you can't help loving FrenchWink
Second. French has very original and interesting features amongst all Romance languages from a linguistic point of view. I'll like explore it like a traveller explores an unknown continent.
And finally, French is a part of very rich and interesting Francophone culture.
Me too I started liking French when I began to study it. Especially after I saw a few movies, analyzing the language, like "Amelie Poulain", "La Boum" etc.
I'm planning to get acquainted with other Romance languages more intimately too, but I need time for that...
My favorite Romance languages are Spanish and Romanian. I happen to know some Spanish from school and I was going to learn Romanian a few years ago. I somewhat dislike French for being a language of the haughty elite since the Middle Ages and replacing other languages or hindering their development, although I realize it wasn't to blame. Unfortunately for my attitude towards French I heard a lot of stupid people praising it and its sound and making harsh ungrounded remarks on other languages.

Yeah, that was my problem too. Actually, I didn't like so much how French sounds until recently.
I die about Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.
